Hi all
I have the original Settlers 3 CD and once patched to 1.60 the game works fine but I’m still required to put the CD in the drive ideally however I’d like to run the game from the hard drive I’m just not sure how.
Obviously I need to copy some files from the CD to the Settlers 3 folder the issue I’m running into is I don’t know how to make the game look for the game files in the Settlers 3 folder as opposed to on the CD
The other issue I have is how to make the game play the music from the hard drive when the game is expecting the music to be in CDA format?
while I can rip the music to wav or mp3 with something like CDEX and then crate a new music folder in the settlers folder and then transfer the files that would do me little good since as far as I’m aware there is no way to make the game read wav/mp3 files so how would I get the game to play them?
Does anyone know how the GOG team got Settlers 3 to work without the CD?
Is there a official patch I’m not aware of that would allow me to run the game from the hard drive so long as I copy the relevant files to the game folder ? and if so where might I download it and does it come with instruction so I know what files I need to copy from the CD or did the GOG team just patch the game them selves if so where can i find said patches ?
I know this is about the CD version of the game and not the GOG version but I figure it might prove useful for others. especially i light of the fact people have been having issues with the GOG version.
