Vel_Grozny: My copy does not stop playing the music, but it seems it does not play all of the available tracks. I tried setting to Nation Only music, but it didn't save this setting.
I played with regedit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bluebyte\Siedler3\1.0\General

Setting CDAudio to 1, instead of 2.

Now for every nation I have different music, but a wrong one. For example, Romans get the Asian music. I suppose this problem can somehow be related.
does renaming the music files help? So if you picked out the Asian tracks and just renamed them to the ones that the Roman tracks currently have.

Edit : doing what you said worked brilliantly, almost all nations have their correct music, gonna try fiddling with the track numbers to get them right to see if that works.

Edit2: it still seems to be only playing 1 track for me, but at least the track seems to try to stick to the nation, as far as I can tell.

Thiev: We are looking into it right now.
Any progress regarding music problems?
Just bought this game and Im also having this problem :(
Also got this problem.
yes most likely since its still not fixed.
At the risk of being a pest, how is this a bad thing? :P I adore this game beyond words with one minor beef, the music sucks! Everything else about it is A++ but the music is beyond putrid. I turned it off; if it had shut off after one track I would have considered myself blessed. :D

I don't know about mean. Maybe I just have bad taste.
I suppose this is not getting fixed? :(

I've created a playlist for each culture and play them in the background while playing. Nasty business, but I guess it's the best you can do..

Thanks for idea with play list. I remember this bug was present also on my S3 version I once have on CD. I blamed polish language version for this.
So far only reloading game bring back the music (one track only...).
Why hello there, fellow GOGers!
I know that this thread is a little old... But I think I may have found a solution.

Back in 2009, a german fella made a patch for the retail game which appearently resolved the problem.
(Link is here: http://www.stein0r.net/index.html )
Anyway... It didn't work(for me at least)... So if anyone could try it, or come up with an idea how to make it work, it would be awesome.

Just to be sure, changes I did to the original rules were:

-Instead of ripping the audio files from the original CD(which I have not access to right now as I'm on holiday) I converted the game's tracks(using Audio Free Maker), and renamed it as the instructions said.
-I did not create a"Music"folder, as a"MUSIC"folder does already exist in our version.
-I had to run the patch as an administrator for it to even start the game(as the patch is"injected"in to the running game and modifies things and makes magic while the game is running, or something like that).

Still, just one track. Always roman, no matter the race.

So, yeah... I've given you the link... Would be awesome if any of you guys found out a way to make it work!
Oh sweet Jesus. THAT THING WORKS!!

You need to get rid of winmm.dll. I assume it does something similar to this patch, but wrong as we know. Now you can enjoy the music in all of its glory!!

I don't know if the music can also be restricted to cultures with this patch. Couldn't be arsed to fiddle with the registry again to change that sodding value. Don't wanna play this game no more anyway, I've played it to death over the past couple of months.
I did delete that"winmm"thing... I triedthe patch, but would still not want to work...

Did you do anything else besides deleting our fella"winmm"?
Nah, that's all I did.

I checked if my old copy of Settlers 3 was interfering somehow, but it didn't. Tried it on my notebook which only has the gog version installed - worked like a charm there. Took out the registry entries from the retail version on my desktop - still worked. I've tried it with both converted ogg files and music ripped directly from the CD - both worked for me.
Setting the CDAudio value to 1 also loops a few tracks for each culture. Well, the wrong ones, but messing with the order might do the trick.

You did wait a few seconds after the track ended, right? Sometimes there is little hiccup when a track is over.
I just bought the game because I saw it in the sales, however I too have the same issue, after the first track it goes quiet, and much of my nostalgia feeling comes from the music.. please fix this !!!! It seems to have been ages since this was first reported.
