I get this error whenever I start the game, anybody know how to fix that?
it would help a lot if you can post your pc specs and a screen of the error

ok, i guess you already got the newest catalyst drivers with that system. can you start dxdiag and look in the second header if directdraw acceleration is activated?
Been having a similar Direct Draw issue, fixed it by changing my screen resolution from 1600x900 to 1280x720. Guess there is something on my PC stopping the game from doing this natively, had a similar issue with old Command & Conquer games but that fix of leaving the screen resolution panel open did not work here.
ah i think i know what may cause the directdraw error. have you tried disabling the intro in the SETUPS3.exe in the game folder?

for me that did not work, I am still getting the error. Here is a screenshot of my error, as you can see it does reference setting my display mode.

Windows 8 64-Bit, Nvidia GTX 550 Ti and it is running on a 32" Samsung TV via HDMI cable. Any scaling is disabled on the TV, it is set to "Just Scan" so the PC controls the screen size and resolution.

Yes my drivers are up to date, and it is enabled.

Changing resolution to 720p did help! Though I menaged to fix this problem myself bofore by changing executables name and compatibility options, and then the game stopped working again, so I wonder if this will take care of the problem for good.

Anyway does anybody know of any way to fix this error without changing the resolution?

my game just runs out of the box without any errors so i'm no real help here :( i dont know how to "force" the error.
My sister got this error when plugging her computer into the TV, disabling the intro and reducing the resolution worked for her. I believe it's just the software exceeding the limit on what resolutions it can adapt to

Try checking ALobby properties and and check 'disable display scaling on high DPI settings'
