Hi,

We have a multiplayer LAN game and after I left the game one of my friends saved the game. Now they have a different savegame then me and in the lobby my spot is occupied by a bot.
When I try to join their game I get an error message, saying that my save game is to old or corrupted and I can not join.

We now have two save games (that are a minute apart) and neither of us can join the others.
We have tried to delete one savegame and even tried to copy and paste my savegame into my friends save game folder.

Is there any way to fix that?

I experienced this same problem recently, have a theory after some investigation, and a solution.

Sharing here for anyone that may find this thread in future..

When saving a multiplayer LAN game a save file is created on both machines. When one user saves, a message is displayed on the game screen to both users to say that the game has been saved. What is key, at this point, is for both users to then exit the game *without saving again*.

If they do that, then the two files have the exact same timestamp, and it's possible to re-join the game.

What can easily happen, which creates the problem described above, is that one user saves, leaves the game, and then, for completeness, the other user also saves. This causes two different save games at different timestamps. And, on the machine where the other person has already left, it creates a saved game with one user and one computer user.

Copying the files between the machines doesn't work because the file remembers who was playing - and won't let the same person play twice.

As long as the save is enacted once only, and then both users quit at this point, all is good to then resume playing later.
There's an extension called "Settlers United". People play in multiplayer that way: https://youtu.be/4wA-RADSpK0?t=891
