I am running into the following, S2 gold runs very, very slow. I tried to tweak and tune a bit, but without results.
Any ideas to speed the game up a little?

Did you change the graphic mode from overlay to opengl?

If you mean ingame then press the "v" button.

1x V = speed x2
2x V = speed x3
3x V = normal speed again
and so on

No, it is like playing on my 468dx2 again.

As soon as it gets busy the framerate drops to unaxceptable values. It looks like a cpu problem. But taskmanager shows no more than 5 till 7 percent.

@ZFR, should I change it to opengl? Tried both, without results.

It looks like the game has great dificulties to run large maps, like Europe. constant crashes.

I know for some games it makes a difference. You can also try "ddraw" but if opengl didn't work, this probably wouldn't help either.

What could help is opening DOSBox settings and changing "cycles=auto" to "cycles=max".
If that still doesn't help, try changing "frameskip=0" to "frameskip=5". If that does help, reduce frameskip till you find the lowest value at which the game runs fine.


Incidentally, what are your computer specs? Unless it's very old though it should make no difference for this game.
