Hello all,
Setllers 2 Gold.. Ahhh so good to have it again, never had much luck with most games on my poor spec machines way back apart from this one.
well nostalgia over, I have a problem with the soldiers.

With each military building as it completes one soldier occupys. I can boost this private up to general etc. with gold coins. But even though some of the buildings are for more than one soldier, none ever move to the sites.

I have recruits listed in the HQ stock, beer aplenty, and all the needed stuff like swords and shields are being produced and put into the HQ store.

I've noticed that as I make each sword and shield it appears in the HQ stock then quickly vanishes, I'd assumed this was because they were being allocated to a new soldier, but none ever move out of the HQ.

Somewhat perplexed here, am I missing something ??
Any advice would be most welcome.

Best wishes to all
Mick C.

Check the military options. The fifth, sixth and seventh slider indicate how many soldiers occupy a building depending on how far from the enemy border it is.
On a side note - beer is optional when recruiting troops (only swords and shields are necessary), but soldiers will be much more effective if you use it.
Thanks for the reply,

This was my error, I misread the help information and set things up back to front. all sorted now :)

While I'm here, another question on the Gold Coins. No trouble making them or sending them out to the various sites, but I noticed with GuardHouses they make up the soldiers to General status and then add one more in the slot. What does this exrta one do if anything ?

Happy Gaming.
All the best,
Mick C.
The extra gold coin basically just sits there in reserve and gets used if one of the existing soldiers dies and a replacement needs to be trained to a higher level.
What DarrkPhoenix said is correct. To prevent gold from being "wasted" this way you can choose not to accept gold by clicking the gold coin icon in the building. Training soldiers is also more effective in the big buildings (barracks are obviously also more vulnerable, but only require wood and you expand faster by building them).
