I just bought the settlers 2 and 3. Unfortunately the game allways starts in fullscreen mode. The tricks with the "-windowed" in the Link-path or ALT+Enter during the game doesent works. Is anyone out there who would be so kind and clever enough to help me out here? Thanks in advance!

If you talk about the GOG settlers gold edition, there is a DOSBox tool in the same folder as the game of the start menu. It lets you change some parameters like the resolution, maybe there was one for windowed too...

Alt-tab to another window then alt-tab back. Works for me in Win 8.

To expand on this, the first entry in the dosboxSettlers2.conf file is "fullscreen=true" change that to "fullscreen=false". Then just tweak the windowed settings as desired.
