Hey guys, i don't know how many of you experience problems when trying to play over lan s3 (or s4, i think they're the same), i know i do and i found out that there's some "procedures" to do in order to get the game running with your friends.
First, my problem was that my friends were able to see my game in the lan lobby but they would try to connect to me and the game wouldn't get past the "searching for open games" phase.
Here's what i did to get connected:
1. as the host i don't have to do anything to my computer (just make sure you have the game allowed through your firewall; also having it both in the inbound and outbound rule might help, google it ;) )
2. your friends should not have the game allowed through the firewall
3. host a game
4. get your friends to enter the game> lan> select tcp/ip service> click search for open games (they shouldn't be able to see your game). they shouldn't deselect the tcp/ip option in the connections box!!! just leave the game searching for servers even though it won't find any.
5. they go to desktop (without exiting the game) and the "allow through firewall" window should appear (click allow and make sure they select both public and private boxes)
6. they get back in the game and wait for your game to appear in the games box (now they should be able to see your game and join and get past the "searching for open games" status phase)
Hopefully it works for everybody, i know it works for me; i was able to figure it out by noticing that we were able to connect when running the game for the first time and then never again, so i knew i had to replicate the circumstances of the game running for the first time, which are the one described above.
My os is wndows 7 (not sure what my friends have so i'm guessing it doesn't matter xD ).
