So I've (again) bought The Settlers: Rise of an Empire, this time on GOG (thanks to the sale).

I've never played the expansion before (The Eastern Realm) and the Gold Edition supposedly includes it. However, I don't see an option to play it? Do I have to finish the original campaign first before it unlocks? Is it hidden in a menu somewhere?

I just played it, and finished it. It's a separate icon. Look for it on your desktop, should be there.

Warning, while not bad, it kind of sucks compared to the base game. They obviously didn't put too much time into it.

Ah, I see it. I never install desktop icons, but if you click "More" and then "Other" in Galaxy, you can launch Eastern Realm.
