Hey there! Long story short, messing a little around with GOG's game files lead me to discover that you can change the language!

To do so, just go to your game's folder, to the Config folder and open the"MiscData" file.
You'll see there is a"language" option. It should be 0. Change it to any of the following options;

0 English
1 German
2 French
3 Spanish
4 Italian
5 Polish
6 Korean
7 English(with alternate, Asian font)
8 Swedish
9 Danish
10 Norwegian
11 Hungarian
12 Hebrew
13 Czech
…and after number 14, it's only English.

Anyway, please let me know if I made some mistakes with any language, or if it helped you!

(Btw, for the full story, more details, or some pics while reading this, please go to my Settlers IV blog, Settlermania.)

Worked like a charm! Thank you very much :)
That worked perfectly. Thanks a lot for the hint!
Unfortunately, that only changed the written texts and not the voice acting (In the mission descriptions and such). Is there a way to change that, as well? I've found several webpages offering patches for that , but those all look suspiciously illegal and I am fairly sure they won't be fully compatible with the gog version of The Settlers IV , too.

Quite frankly, though, I don't understand why gog isn't simply offering a german download, I don't think it would be that difficult, considering the original game was actually in german. It would be really great if they did that. Or even just a patch that overwrites the voice acting files, that might be sufficient.

I would guess that's because of the licensing, just as EA games for example Theme Hospital, are not officially available in other languages.
Only the English language audio seems to be included... luckily for me, I own the Swedish retail version (non-gold-edition) and I just copied and replaced the video and audio files with the ones from that :)

Any chance to do this with The Settlers 3?. I have the original game in spanish but the installation system doesn't work anymore and I've been trying so hard to find the game in the internet in spanish and play it like the old days. I've found translations and that's ok but I want to play it with the audio in spanish too.

Unfortunately if there is, this only changes the text language (video, audio, etc. will remain in English if you use the GOG version).

There is a way if you replace some other files, though.

Thx you very much
Does anyone have the videos in Spanish? The translation is only of the texts, but the videos and audios are in English.
If anyone had the original CDs, audios and videos could be extracted
