huan: Looks like we're out of luck. From their discord:
We aren't planning to support achievements on GOG and Epic. We're a small team and maintaining so many custom platform APIs creates a huge amount of overhead.
huan: Wow, how very despicable of them!
Thanks for posting that quotation though.
I don't care one iota how small their dev team is. There are other small dev teams on GOG - and even some one-man-only devs - who
do give the GOG version of their games Achievements.
But since these devs can't be bothered to give GOG customers equal treatment, then I can't ever be bothered to give them any money.
Hopefully many others also won't, so that their sales will justifiably suffer as a result of their decision not to offer feature parity.
It's not like they give a
second-class citizen discount to their GOG customers to compensate for the feature they removed from the GOG version. No, instead they expect the same amount of money from their GOG customers as from their Steam customers.
Yet GOG customers get less for the same amount of money anyway.
That's immoral, and that's a ripoff!
