Why are escape pods, spaceships and satellites lying on the surface so clean? There are no signs of them having crash-landed or even simply falling uncontrollably at great speed through a rarefied but atmospheric atmosphere. I admit that the "plastic" look of the world in the game may have been deliberately stylized as the middle of the zero years, when computers were weak, and it was impossible to reliably depict an open seamless world with acceptable performance. But, firstly, we are now in our third decade. And secondly, here we are talking only about the texture. And the reflection settings so that the places damaged by heat and rust do not glare like other parts of the hulls that are better preserved.
When you arrive on the planet all counters are at zero. This is despite the progress made by other planet crafters before you. So the planet has no atmosphere and any dust the wrecks kicked up on impacts got pulled into the vaccuum of space. Then the planet is so cold that its temperature is theoretical and even direct exposure to the rays of the sun don't warm up the hull enough to leave burns.
