I've been thinking of buying The Planet Crafter. It would be one of my very few EA purchases.

I definitely prefer to purchase on GOG.

How have the developers been with keeping the game files up-to-date?

(I don't mind if it take a few days or maybe even a week for an update to appear; something I'm used to with No Mans Sky, for example). On Steam I notice a constant "dribble" of smaller update notices, between major patches.

Do they keep up with all those updates here on GOG?

I think the versions are the same aside from the development branch. According to the road map the next update is in February followed by another in Quarter 3.

In this case I did end up purchasing on Steam; and am well into a playthrough (lakes are filling up and trees are growing, and grubs are everywhere).

I wonder the same thing, bought it on GOG. Stil on 0.6.008 version here. Steam got a small update on the 0.6 and then 0.7 something now.

When will GOG get the update?

I think 0.7.003 is still in the development branch. It would have to be designated stable first. I'm guessing it might be a few days to a week after that.

News posted on 2/20 - "Fish & Drones" update will be on Steam next week!
Then we'll see how long it takes to reach GOG.

Version 7.008 of this game just arrived on GOG

Looks like we got the update the same day it was made official on steam.

letzte version nach fish & drones gabe diese meldung nicht.

I get the same thing starting with this update. It's a well known bug common to games built in the Unity Engine.

no.. its now two patches behind....
very sad!!

The version on GoG is updated to be the same as the one on Steam.

Usually the update come's one or two days after the Steam version, the time to iron out the bugs.

The last update should be available on GoG for everyone.

As mijugames said above, the updates here have been kept current within a few days. The update before this one on Steam was only to remove the special Anniversary celebration update content - which we GOG owners got to keep playing with until a more substantial game update was ready. :)
