Hi, I just recently started playing this game. I'm in the mouse village. Here is my issue. First off, loading the game takes minutes, quite a few of them. If this is normal, disregard this complaint. I really don't mind it all that much, it's just an annoyance.

My main issue is that the game runs slowly and has frequent serious slowdown, even becoming unresponsive for up to a minute at a time. Animations are often choppy. When I switch screens the animations play poorly for a little bit and then seem to load in fully. The serious slowdown seems random, but often happens if I stop using the mouse for a minutes or two (like if I stop to send a text). A few times I was sure the game crashed, but eventually it became responsive again.

I downloaded the patch here on gog and ran it. It said that it was already applied. Looking at the properties of rabbit. exe shows my version as 1.0.0.1. The update patch claims to be both 1.2 and 2.0.1 if I understand my downloads page correctly. I have not checked if a version number is in my game yet, it's too slow to load and practically unplayable right now, but I'll check later and see what it says if it even does say.

I'm running win xp, 2.61 dual core (AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 5000+), max xp ram (3.25 gigs), radeon 7700, and a new WD black HD. I am pretty sure that is not my problem based on the system reqs listed on this site. I don't have any trouble with any other games. In fact I can generally run things I don't meet the min reqs for passably due to keeping a very clean PC. I can play Grimrock II for instance with mostly the average to good setting graphics at a very passable frame rate.

Does this game run slowly for everyone? Is there something I could consider doing to improve performance? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really like what I played of the game so far. Thanks :)

Edit:

I launched the game and in game it says it is version 1.2.3.0389.

I had this issue and was able to find the answer, for me at least, in the Steam forums. If you have an Nvidia video card go into the NVidia Control Panel and then under 'Manage 3D Settings'. Add the game to the Program Settings tab and then for the game disable 'Threaded optimization'. That fixed the issue for totally so far.
