Is it normal in Doomdark's Revenge that lords doesn't kill enemy soldiers? Just enemy lords?

Btw I'm enjoying both games, currently playing Doomdark's Revenge with a friend of mine, I'm controlling the Targs Giants and Fouls and he's controlling the Dwarves and Elves.
Yes, it's normal.
Sadly, it also means that if you play Iron Man you have to hide Luxor under the Gates of Valenorn, or some lord will eventually kill him, and it will be game over.
Actually, you can win the game by hiding in a tunnel, and press Night until some Lord kills Shareth...
I just beat the game with my friend, we were doing well, got something like 60 lords, but he was controlling Tarithel, and he grouped her with a lot of fey lords and attacked some icelords... Tarithel died, so we couldn't save Morkin, but we killed Sareth and returned to Midnight with only Luxor and Rorthron getting a notable victory in three scores (60 days).

But It was kinda easy, I mean, I could probably make it more difficulty imposing some rules like "Just recruit Fey lords" etc, but is it normal that the icelords aren't much aggressive like the first game, The Lords of Midnight? I mean, I put a dwarf to recruit some icelords and was kinda disappointed the other icelords around me didn't just kicked the shit out of me, they were just... doing nothing while I was converting them to my army. Just sometimes they go offensive, when Shareth is leading them trying to kill Luxor, but that's it, they just tries to kill Luxor.

When I was fighting Shareth and her Icelord army, I didn't even killed all the Icelords, actually I just breached a hole in her army and got after her. (I was lucky that Luxor was fleeing from some icelords and went into some tunnels and when he got out, he was basically in front of Shareth so I basically knew the exactly position of her) Well, I breached her army and got after her, killed her and there were like, still 10 icelords around me, then I just fled south with Rorthron and Luxor to get the victory, and the icelords followed them in a straight line lol.

Another thing, sometimes I don't get any battle report, I don't even know if I attacked the enemy lord, just a question, does the enemies lords flee battles? Because this situation was most common when I was outnumbering the enemy.
Edit: Actually it happened when I attacked a keep too, I attacked it, conquered it but it gave me no battle report, didn't knew the loses, etc.

Doomdark is very different from Lord of Midnight, in that it's so random and unpredictable, which is both a strength and a weakness. And of course the tunnels being accessible only to the player is a severe design flaw IMO.

To get the most fun out if you have to set some "house rules", like no use of tunnels (except for Morkin to escape) and recruiting from only certain races and/or alignments.

Note that all my comments are based on the original Spectrum versions.

One thing I find strange about the new version of Doomdark's Revenge is how Shareth does not seem to immediately get her forces together and go after Luxor. When I used to play it on the Spectrum I could always expect a whole load of them to turn up fairly quickly. On the PC though... I often find Ice Lords on their own little missions, or track Shareth as she heads off into some mountains somewhere and then back to where she started. Maybe it's always been this way? I can get Tarithel into the Frozen Empire more quickly that I could before so maybe I just have a clearer idea now of how the Ice Lords operate.

Yes this is a problem.

One of the things that I found when porting the original code into a new system and testing, is that the AI is actually very poor and I purposely didn't fix it. There are times when some really strange things happens. However, there is a possibility that some things get more noticeable on the PC version which might be a simple as random numbers... It's on my list of things to check..

I shall look at the battle report issue...
