I was playing LoM trying a new strategy when I came across an odd character in the Forest of Dreams. I don't remember the lord's name but he was translucent and couldn't be recruited. Is this an Easter egg, or some feature from the original that I don't know of?

Sounds like a bug. Or else an easter egg in the new version.
Nothing like this in the original version.

Lord Midwinter by any chance? :) The clue is in the name.

He's carrying a special object... but you can't recruit him...
