Where can I find the special items? Like Crown of Varenand, Spell of Thigrorn, etc. Are they in fixed places or randomly distributed?
And when I attack a keep or citadel with a group, who is gonna be the owner of the keep or citadel, the one leading the group or it's just random?

All items are in random places.
You'll have to visit towers to know their general whereabouts, which can be a pain if it's in a huge area like Forest of Fangrim. Also with hundreds of different places, with generated names, it can be hard to find specific areas without a premade map.
Sometimes some lord picks up a special items, in which case you must track the lord down and either recruit him or kill him.
