I'm having severe graphical problems with this game. As per jarvoll's "Unplayably severe graphics issue", in-game scenes are not rendered properly. In the first scene, with the old lady and two other people, although the characters appear to be rendered properly, they flicker; the background on the other hand is a complete interlaced mess.

I attached a screenshot and my DxDiag. I tried setting bool_UseHardware to 0 and I also tried forcing single buffer in the game's perefence.ini file, but this didn't help. Can anyone give me any other suggestions, please?

I had a look at your dxdiag and you have an nvidia card. I can never tell what version the driver is on that compared to what they say on their website but is it pre 190.xx? The gamecard states that you "may require installing an earlier (below 190.xx) driver version on NVidia graphics cards"

Try the solution outlined here.
@Vagabond Thanks, that solved the problem.
@Ralackk Thanks for the reply. I already knew that there may be a need to downgrade the driver, but i wanted to leave that as a last resort -- I'm playing more than TLJ at the moment, so an older driver wouldn't really help.

Hate to revive an old topic like this, but I'm having trouble with the characters just being a tangled mass of shapes, morphing all the time and flickering. The link from the solution doesn't seem to work anymore...

I tried the often suggested solution with setting bool_IsDoubleBuffer=0 and bool_UseHardware=0, but that didn't help.

I also tried disabling options in the settings menu (like Shadows, April's high-res model etc.) but that didn't do anything either.

I'm running the game under Win XP, using an Nvidia card, and I'd like to do anything not to downgrade the drivers.

Try running TLJ in software mode, details in this thread.
