Hi, I hope someone can help me. I'm new to this game (having played both of the predecessors years ago), and it has taken me 10 minutes to get horribly stuck. Apparently, the opening bits of chapter 1 have changed. I was glad to find that out, because I thought I was going crazy....anyway, right at the beginning, trying to help the child with her wardrobe monster, the key that was originally in the painting just isn't there. Is it supposed to be? I can't tell if this is a bug, a change from the original version, or what, and it's making me want to nearly instantly quit a game I just bought. PLEASE someone familiar with the new version tell me how to proceed past this point. Every Let's Play and walkthrough on the internet is based on the (now) old version. In the new version, they don't even seem to explain what basic controls are (like "light" and "time")

Thanks.

I quickly played the beginning again yesterday; it doesn't seem you still need to unlock the wardrobe after killing the tentacle monster. So essentially all you need to do here is find flashlight, freeze time, bust monster, cutscene.

Doesn't it work that way in your version?

I'm having the same problem as the OP. I can't figure out how to "bust" the monster. I froze time but Zoe won't do anything with the wardrobe. I figured I needed to shine the flashlight on it but she won't. Whenever I select "light", it seems like she's trying to draw light out of the monster. So frustrating!

UPDATE: Walk away from the wardrobe and let the monsters tentacles start flailing around. THEN click on it without shining the light on it, and from the side, freeze time. With its tentacles still out, you'll kill it once you shine the flashlight on it. That. Took. Forever. Smdh
