Hello,

Which platform and OS (Operating System) are you testing on?

I am assuming this refers to the original (first) The Longest Journey game.

What are the solutions you've tried so far?

Iirc the game here does not come bundled with ScummVM so it runs from its own executable. However, it is one of the games supported with ScummVM. Have you tried running it through a recent version of ScummVM (ie. the latest 2.8.1 stable release or a 2.9.0git development build)?
I had the same problem black videos.
Running it in a ScummVM environment as suggested works fine.
Thanks for the post.

I play on a windows 10 laptop. Haven't tried any tech savvy solutions because I'm not good with computers. How would I go about running it on ScummVM? is that something i download?

Yes, ScummVM is an application that you can download from the ScummVM website.

You can read about it on the official web page (www.scummvm.org). It's an open source free program that offers an alternative way of running many classic games, by re-implementing their game engine and supporting many user platforms. GOG does bundle ScummVM with some of the supported classic games too, but that is not currently the case for The Longest Journey.

The main idea here is that you can download ScummVM from the official website, install it somewhere on your system, then run ScummVM, add The Longest Journey game (with "Add Game...") by pointing ScummVM to the folder where you installed that game, and then run it from ScummVM by clicking on the "Start" button.

The process shouldn't be hard, but there is documentation with details on these steps that you can look up here:
https://docs.scummvm.org/en/v2.8.0/use_scummvm/add_play_games.html
