Hello everybody,
I have just finished Redux and the whole story has ended SO DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED PLAYING !!SPOILER ALERT!!

I still have so many questions and am hoping that some of you may have some answers:

Questions:

1) What happened with Kian and Annas story? What was the whole point??
2) Kian says he's gay, but in the end in Sadir he stands together with Saga and Na'ane as if family????
3) Why does Saga need to go with Kian? Why does she need to be adopted by him? Why oh why is Na'ane there (especially when you'd made the decision to kill her for her treachery before)
4) What happened to Mother Utana and the butcher women from Ge'en (if you didn't decide to kill her)?
5) What happened to Crow? Was he dead and his spirit went away with April Ryan who took him with her through a portal in story time? Did Saga bring him back to life walking through the portal carrying him in her hands? Was he reborn in some way??
6) What happened to Saga's parents? Has her mother ever been found? Why did her mother have to leave the day she vanished? Why did they need to live in the save house in the first place? What happened to her father after she'd left the house?
7) What about the white dragon? Does it live inside of Saga now (Westhouse killed it)
8) In the end of "The Longest Journey" the old lady says that she is April Ryan, but according to the make up of the old lady in the end of Redux, it's Saga...who is it? Or are the two the same with the same memories and what not?? They have different personalities so it didn't seem like it.

Do any of you have some ideas???????????

(1) Narratively, I'm not entirely certain what Anna's role was. Eventually, she saved Kian's life by telling mother Utana where he went, but by doing that she still collaborated with the main person responsible for the Azadi death camp. Anna may also demonstrate how much Kian is alienated from his own past and culture in Chapters. But that's all I can think of for now, and it's all speculative.

(2) Yes, gay people can have family, and nothing should make you wonder why he would risk beeing seen with a bunch of gals even though he's into lads. It's determinant whether Na'ane or Likho or no one are on that balcony, by the way, but Kian never goes without Saga. :)

(3) We're not quite certain on what whims or prophecies Saga operates, but at least she knows that Kian needs her help. That's why she goes with him. The adoption makes perfect sense: They're going into a country where blood counts for everything and magicals are despised. The troubles Saga avoids by becoming Lady Alvane are uncountable.

(4) Mother Utana has fled to Sadir, where she will likely be the main obstacle for Kian to eventually become king. But that is an untold story, only hinted at in retrospect by Lady Alvane.

(5) How Crow gets back is of course not detailed. His echo in the Storytime vanishes with April's echo; I have no idea how Saga can "get him" reborn just by retrieving his corpse. However, we can assume that – as Saga is reborn April, has investigated her strange roots and is a potent alchemist to boot – she has found some mysterious way to trigger rebirth in the little pal.

(6) Lady Alvane shares quite a few details in that last scene. Saga's mother was never found and never came back; and eventually her father even left searching for her. It's hinted that Saga, when she got reports from some world that a "Midgardian" woman was seen there, still tried to find her, but in vain. I'm not sure what the many pitfalls are for a couple of a Starkian man and an Arcadian or otherworldly woman, but I guess they justify building the House of all Worlds; and it's obvious that Etta's job or other duties still force her to leave the House now and then – possibly travelling along the songlines, just like Saga later did.

(7) That's probably the most difficult question of the lot. "The White Dragon" is a title, a family, one or many persons, at once April-Saga's mother, sister AND daughter and still very much herself as well! :) It's notable that "The White Dragon" still remains a mystery to the old Lady Alvane as well. Evidently the "ghost" that appeared to Baby Saga in Book One, promising her return, has not resurfaced. A solution to this riddle may still lie in Lady Alvane's future, as few months as there may be left.

(8) Saga / Lady Alvane is April Ryan reborn. Now "rebirth" has many interpretations and variations throughout the cultures. Nothing speaks against April and Saga having different personalities. Nothing speaks against them both being their own person. Saga still has the experiences of April Ryan, has seen her adventures through her own eyes.

First of all...thanks for spending so much time giving me your ideas :)

I didn't mean that being gay meant not being able to have a family...but I wished for him to be with a man at least...have a family with another man, if you understand me.
I mean...why couldn't he marry Saga then, if he wouldn't be with annother man anyway? Because he's an apostle? Are they allowed to adopt then? Is being gay frowned upon in Sadir? If magicals are still not welcome in their hearts, why is either Na'ane the witch or Lhiko the very blue guy with him on the balcony??? It killes me when games leave me without all the answers :((((

The story with Anna makes me crazy! If Kian was gay to begin with, and not dependant on what choices you made, why all the kissing decisions?? And after letting her kiss him twice, why does she turn him down as if he were stinking when he attempts to kiss her in the Rooster and Kitten in book 5???? I just don't get it!!! And then in the end she's just left out all together...no information...no Sir!

The part with the White Dragon that appeared to Saga in book one as a ghost not appearing again, also is very frustrating to me :(

I feel like I'm left without closure :(((

Aber natürlich verstehe ich dich. :)

I strongly believe that while Kian prefers to be with men, he still is to be understood as an independent personality who is neither in need of a partner nor in immediate search of one. That absolutely mirrors the stories of the TLJ saga's heterosexual female protagonists, who are never on the lookout for a partner (who might distract them on their oh so important quests too, bah! ;) ).

Kian's homosexuality doesn't define the character in the same way April or Zoë are not defined by their heterosexuality. And that's fairly important to note. I've been talking to a gay man concerning the Kian/Likho relationship, and he was pretty disappointed they don't end up together. The thing is, they CAN end up together, with Likho begrugingly saving Kian's life countless times, but they will never be a couple; they're not made for each other, and the king has other things to attend to anyway. But, who knows? There may have been a one night stand eventually. :)

If you're mistreating the paedophile Azadi in Book Two, you'll get a lengthy scene with Kian detailing how things are in Sadir concerning sexuality (beginning of Book Three). The societal rules and boundaries are in essence just as wildly arbitrary as ours, but homosexuality doesn't seem to be a problem in the matriarchal society. The priestesses seem to have an exciting sex life with each other anyway, why shouldn't the soldiers get the same opportunity? :)

Oh, I think we got some strong pointers as to where things go at the end. The balcony scene plays out five years after the proceedings of DFC; I think it's strongly implied that many things have changed in Sadir by then, starting with the first man to become head of the monarchy! And since we first saw Kian in Dreamfall, it was obvious that the character would undergo a tremendous change from deeply hateful, murderous racist to the open minded person who made friends with Shepherd, Enu, Crow and even Likho.

He is destined to bring this enlightenment to Sadir, and I think RTG has therewith laid out his entire character arc. The character has closure, in my opinion.

There ARE explanations for that, it's just that they're not very good ones. :)

As you acknowledged, it wasn't that Kian "kissed her" in Book Two, it was that Kian LET HER kiss him. And I, like almost everybody else, interpreted that and acted like an offer made to a heterosexual man – even though the first clear cut hint as to his actual preference had already been spoken out in his conversation with Enu at the end of their first night out together! And in hindsight, it was a very strong hint to boot. But you and I and a whole lot of other people still stumbled into this scene thinking of heterosexuality as the default, and thinking of Dreamfall Chapters like a relationship simulator in the Dragon Age/Mass Effect vein.

I believe that if that veil is lifted, you get a pretty good grip on what's actually happening in the Book 2 "kiss" scene.

Now, as to the Book 5 scene. That ill fated Book 5 scene. Kian has the option to attempt to kiss her (it's determinant whether she will let him). And if he does, as a gay man, there is only one way to interpret this action. The game itself, however, doesn't make all too clear how the developers judge this action.

But on Steam, you get a "douchebag" achievement for it.

In essence, RTG inserted a trap choice for the ignorant heterosexual male player who learned nothing throughout the whole game, but this choice was, in my opinion, very_badly_implemented. :|

Ahja...auch from Germany hahaah

You make really good points. I probably just don't have enough imagination to understand things without being told in every little detail :(

I must admit, that I did NOT get that Kian is gay until he told Crow, and that's only after the scene in the Cock and Puss....I mean Rooster and Kitten ;)
In the conversation with Enu, I thought that he meant that he wasn't interested in romance because of his investment in the rebel movement, when he said that he wasn't interested in women. And I thought that Enu was interpreting that wrong, as she is so clumsy. Why couldn't I just take it literally???
Even in the book summaries of your choices, it always said something like "I let Anna kiss me although the gap between us can never be undone". I always thought that was because he's an apostle and she used to be a slave.

Once Kian told Crow he was gay and doesn't...mate with women (hahahah) I created the idea of him getting together with Lhiko too, by the way hahahaha

Danke für deine Erklärungen :)
