Greetings! I have an issue with Dreamfall Chapters that prevents me from running the game properly.
These are my specs:
- Intel i7 2600 3.40GHz LGA 1155
- ASUS P8P67 LE
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 660
- Win7 Ultimate x64

Last year, when I bought Dreamfall Chapters, I tried to run the game in an older power supply, and my CPU fan was also quite cheap. The results were an smooth framerate, but an alarming noise coming from some fan on my rig. It started somewhat quiet, then it was louder, and louder, AND LOUDER.
"It's the CPU fan", I thought. Bought a new one; the same noise of a fan going a little too fast.
"Well, it's my power supply". My old power supply only gave 500W which, with a GeForce 660, was obviously not enough. My new power supply gives me 700W, and it's pretty quiet.
And yes, it makes the same noise. It becomes really loud and just goes louder without limit (it probably have a limit, but I don't want to hear it). I must say that I can run The Witcher 2 on Ultra without any alarming noise.

I tried to set the grapich settings to minimum, run in windowed mode, turning v-sync off... nothing works. I also run it with Speccy and Task Manager open in my other screen, and neither of them show me anything weird. My components doesn't go hotter, and Dreamfall doesn't eat a lot of RAM or CPU. The thing is, I don't even have to go ingame to trigger the noise, the title screen takes a little more time, but it achieves the same.

So... any help?
(Sorry about my bad grammar)

EDIT: No, it's not my hard drive. I installed the game on two different hard drives. Same noise.

Yes. Your graphics card is the culprit.

First of all, turn v-sync back on. :)

Second, set a maximum/limit for the game's framerate manually in your graphics card's settings menu.

That is the one and only thing that really helped on my computer.

I have an ATI card, so I can't guide you through the process, but I know that NVidia offers even more sophisticated tools to do just that.

Maybe start out with 30 fps maximum and one step less than "awesome" settings. If that goes well, get the framerate up some more until the point your fans get audible while playing, but won't go nuts.

Do you still have problems with this ... or could I help? :)

Oh yeah, I forgot!
It worked! Well, it still overheats a bit, but it's more manageable.
One important thing to note, though. I used the Nvidia Control Panel in order to enable Vsync and limit the game to 30fps, HOWEVER, the control panel apply those settings on the Dreamfall executable file. Launching the game from GOG Galaxy do not use this settings; and because of that, it looked like it wasn't working at first.
But now it works, so thank you very much =D

30!! That is still very, very low. I had hoped you'd get it to 50 or 60 even without problems. *sigh*

Nonetheless, you're of course welcome. :)
