Spoiler Warning

Towards the end of the game in book two (Rebels), Mother Utana was reading a book in her bedroom, when all of a sudden, she was startled by a squawk and when she looked up, she saw a bird perched at the bedroom window (was it Crow)? And Mother Utana said to the bird, “You”!

In book three (Realms), the next time we see Mother Utana, still inside her bedroom, she remains staring at the window, but this time there is no bird; this was not followed up, in book three, or is there more to this part of the story in book four/five to come?

No idea.

We are of course led to believe that Crow has visited her. Crow's telling Zoë quite another story though, expresses a disinterest in adventures of any kind and "nesting" as his present key endeavour.

Does our little friend have a secret agenda of his own?

I'm pretty sure that's one of the secrets that will be sorted out in future books. I doubt that by Book 5, we still won't know the whos and whys of that enigmatic Crow teaser.

Personally, I think that Crow could possibly be much more involved with rebel activities than is known at the time. Mother Utana needs some kind of a spy and Crow would be perfect for the job. Obviously, General Hami is feeding her lies, particularly about Kian. Maybe Crow knows better, maybe Crow has offered to be Utana's eyes and ears.

And butt feathers.
Yes, it does seem that Crow has a more important role to play than just giving company to April (in the past) and Zoë. I remember now that the White Dragon (Reborn) said to April; "you need to take Crow with you, and that he is an important bird...". And she was insistent on this! So there is much more going on here with Crow; I hope this and all the other mysteries do get revealed before we reach the end of book five
