Cannot even get the GOG Downloader to show the game I'm downloading. It's blank.
After checking in the downloads file, the game appears to be downloaded, but when I go to start it, it says 'files not found'.

I unchecked the User Account Control following the advice given here on the site.

Running on windows vista 32-bit, intel core 2 Quad CPU, DX 11 , with google chrome and can list specs if need be.

Installed the NET 3.5 SP1 as was recommended for a blank GOGDownloader screen , also tried toggling the settings...nothing works !

Do I understand you correctly that the downloaded file exists in a target folder used by GOGDownloader but it fails to be launched from GOGDownloader?

This looks like Downloader-specific issue rather than TLJ-specific. In this official thread, you could get a support from developers.
