I keep getting an error and booted in Chapter 3 of the original The Longest Journey, Friends and Foes when I enter the police station after the newscaster exits and after my convo with the police. It's just a general error message. I have tried rebooting and messing with my configurations. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have the gog version?

Did you try downloading the patch for the game? The gog version should have all files nessesary on the install page but if you have an old version of the game (I have the disc myself) you may have to search for patches yourself and install them manually.. If you have the gog version you should probably install all the game files available (including also the patch if it is a separate file and not included in the other files.)

Did you try running the game in an old compability mode? Did you run it as an administrator?

Sorry, I'm not that good with these things and that was the only things that came to my mind..

Oh, now I actually found some info about this:

"Crash at Police Station

Information On some graphics cards, the game will crash upon entering the Police Station.

Fix Fix: Patch
Fixed with the 1.61 patch.

Information If you find the patch is unable to be installed (for example, with the GOG.com version of the game), you may be able to fix the crash by changing some options on the game's launcher. Turn off 3D acceleration, high quality models and set the game to 16 bit colour. You can then re-enable these after you get past that section of the game.

When all else fails you can try right-clicking the game icon, select Properties, select the Compatibility tab and check the box for "Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution". "

Too bad you cant install the patch with the gog version, that is just stupid. Maybe someone should report this to GOG. :(

I hope this helps and you get it fixed anyway! :)
