Hey guys,
I have really choppy performance with TLJ, really unsure why. If I turn on Supersampling with NHancer, it eliminates the chopping, but it also removes essential graphics from the game (as illustrated in another thread.)
I'm running Forceware 190.62 drivers.
If I need to provide any other info, please let me know.
Thanks!

Windows 7 64 user here. Just wanted to chime in that the combination of turning off Hardware acceleration and forcing single buffering is allowing me to play it in fullscreen on Nvidia 195 series drivers.

I want to confirm that this combination also works full-screen on my Windows XP with Nvidia 8600GT !! Thanks!
I had graphics problems on Windows 7 with an ATI Radeon HD 4600 series graphics card... The game was unplayable but the issue has been resolved thanks to this thread. I had to edit my "C:\Users\AppData\Roaming\The Longest Journey\Preferences.ini" file to include the following two values:
bool_IsDoubleBuffer=0
bool_UseHardware=0
Thanks all.

Following the good advice from this thread I got the game working in full screen and without any choppiness.
My OS is Windows XP 32-bit and I'm using the latest nVidia drivers (196.21).
This is how I did it:
1- I copied the file called "preferences.ini" from the folder where I installed the game to my application data folder.
In my case it was: C:\Documents and Settings\Carlos\Datos de programa\The Longest Journey
If my OS wasn't in Spanish I guess it would have been: C:\Documents and Settings\<YOUR USER NAME>\Application Data\The Longest Journey
2- Then I edited the file. Replace the [DirectX] portion of the file (or add if it doesn't exist) with this:
[DirectX]
GfxDriver=display
int_BitDepth=32
bool_IsDoubleBuffer=0
bool_UseHardware=0
bool_StartFullscreen=1
bool_ForceSingleBuffer=1
I hope this helps anybody.

Is there any way to get it running full screen in Hardware mode? It looks really pixelated in software mode on a 24" monitor

I was having some problems trying to run this game in fullscreen and your tip really helped bro. Thanks for that.
Odd, I've played through the entire game on Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 470 without any issues. Aero is disabled on my machine though, maybe that's the cause?
In my windows 7 64bit there was flickering on top of the screen (the message 0161 build was blinking making the game unplayable. I followed the instructions below and it got fixed! Thanx for the post!

Not so much choppy as it just QUIT when I solved the Tree Watering puzzel. No clue. OS is W-7/64 Pro. CPU is quat Intel, nVidia 580 card. Turned OFF most of the recomended features, could not get game to restart, as the button is greyed out.
