Hi, I just started playing the game recently and noticed something odd.
In Playthroughs I saw on YouTube there are multiple puzzles at the beginning where Zoë helps different people. Like one, who is always falling. In my game she walks just down a path and waves her hand and says something like: "Everything is fine, it's just a dream." Until I get to the girl with the monster in the closet.

Are there different versions of the game, or were the puzzles cut out in a patch? If so, then why?

Puzzles were cut and the beginning was streamlined when Book 5 hit.

According to RTG, some people reported confusion and were getting stuck, which they wanted to avoid; in my opinion, that was mostly due to problems with the controls - a design problem. :(

However, RTG has said that these puzzles will possibly return in a future alternative cut of the game. In fact, according to today's Kickstarter update, more changes (and in this case thankfully: additions) are on their way.

I certainly hope that those puzzles are reintroduced as that part worked as a nice introduction to the Zoë's dreamer powers and to user interface.

I also hope that if there are any additions those are accessible without restarting the game i. e. compatible with the older save games from my first playthrough. I have plan to replay the entire series at some point in the future, but I think that it will be more enjoyable if I let some time pass between playthroughs.

It's possible they overhaul the save system as well, actually (which I never liked :) ). We have, at the time, no indication as to what they still intend to change in their game, we just know that four people (of their dozen, i.e. one third of the studio) is still working on something something Dreamfall Chapters. We may know later this year.

OK. I saw that they are doing something from an e-mail, but I assumed that they might have revealed more in their own forums.

I never liked that autosave system either, because sometimes it saved too often (after one or two actions) and other times you could wander around quite a while without saving. Which can be inconvenient if you have to quit playing before you can reach the next save point. I like manual saves, because it allows playing without losing progress even if you have just a short 10-15 minutes pause when you can play.

They did reveal something today. They're attempting to implement a mini-map. It's not something I personally need, but... many people have asked for it. :)

I thought that the tourist maps which you could find around Europolis and Marcuria were enough. Mini-map would make those unnecessary. And there was hardly a need for any kind of map after the first exploration as both cities were relatively small and easy to navigate.

I'm the worst navigator alive, but spent an excessive amount of time in Europolis and Marcuria by my own decision, so I can't really judge whether you'd "need" a map. When the topic first came up two years ago, Ragnar explicitly said that navigation is part of DFC's challenge and they don't want to remove that. Now they will - let's see what comes from that. :)

I'm bit unhappy about the removal of challenge (especially about removal of puzzles). I think that Chapters already lacks challenge compared to its predecessors. The Longest Journey offered plenty of good puzzles and while Dreamfall generally had easier puzzles than the TLJ, it was still more challenging than the Chapters. Besides some puzzles were really tough. As I'm not musical, I did find Dreamfall's music puzzle particularly challenging and I did find it kind of funny, how much easier the music puzzle was in Chapters.

I also spent whole lot of time in both cities, mostly because I wanted to explore everything. And some details were very interesting, like Onor Hileriss' speech to the potential voters.

I do hope they'll address that. I haven't yet met anyone who particularly liked that they did that. The first episode had been more of a tutorial level concerning challenge, but they just didn't ramp it up afterwards like they were supposed to... instead, they cut out challenge from the first episode. :(
