Hi everyone.

Once again purchased TLJ after a decade.
Wonderful game it truly is.

I have read others who have had the same FMV/Cutscene not playing or getting stuck on the first frame.

I am wondering how to resolve it.

What I have tried so far:
-Every single compatibility setting available
-Setting Power Options to 'High'
-Modifying the correct preferences.ini file in the appropriate windows 7 folder
-praying

What I have not tried so far
-Downgrading my GPU drivers
-praying at the church of voltec

Any suggestions will be much appreciated as to how I can enjoy the game in all its visual and cutscene glory.

Thanks

My HW:
Dell XPS 15 L502x with...
-Intel i7-2630QM@2.0Ghz (OC to 2.9Ghz)
-8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 RAM
-NVidia GT540M 2GB VRAM
-720GB 7,200rpm HDD
-FHD B+RGLED 1920x1080p screen

I'm bumping this post cause I'm in the same situation as the op.

I bought TLJ on gog months ago, I enjoyed it a few hours on my desktop computer (i5, win7 etc).

A month ago I bought a new laptop (HP Envy 14" Beats Edition / i7 win7) and due to lot of travel I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to use it to play some titles from my gog playlist.

Like the member above I've never been able to have the FMV cutscenes working on this laptop (one stuck frame with the sound working as it should be). And like this member I've tried every work-arounds suggested on this forum but one (the gpu driver downgrade since my laptop gpu is based on a switchable graphics option, I have tried both gpus to no working result).

So here I am too, wishing to enjoy TLJ again.

Thanks

Had the same problem, did about 5 hours of research, and stil... no solution. I only have some small clues, i am sure that the binkw32.dll is the problem here, tried to download a newer version, but i found out that the game is made for that version, and in the official binkw website they recommended to contact the creators. I did found a version of the dll that is also compatible with the game, the 0.9f version (the game uses the 0.8i), but the problem persist... so no solution yet.
We can only hope that the GOG team fix this, I don't think it should be difficult (or hope it isn't, i don't know anything, tried to modify the dll but it is impossible for me xD).

Hope we get an official response
same thing here with i5 macbook air running bootcamp, everything else is fine but the videos are stuck on the first frame
I'm having the same problem on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop. I have tried all the previous suggestions but can not get it working. Very frustrating!

I have the same laptop and haven't been able to fix it. Did you find a solution?

I couldn't get the game to work in Vmware or Wine either.

Not sure if this will help anyone here out very much, but found this in some recent posts and wanted to add this here in case it may:

For those that don't want to visit the link to an unfamiliar site, and for the sake of preserving this information across various boards on the Internet, I'll copy and paste the solution here:

(Note, this is a solution in reference to Intel integrated graphics cards, so it may not apply to other setups. However, it may be worth trying nonetheless, especially if you've tried just about everything else.)
1. Right click on Desktop
2. Select Screen Resolution
3. Click Detect (with no additional monitor connected)
4. Next to your first display, you'll see a grey square with the text "Another display not detected" Click on the grey square
5. Next to "Multiple displays" it will say "No display detected"
6. Click on "No display detected"
7. A drop-down menu will appear
8. Select "Try to connect anyway on: VGA"
9. Click on your primary display (the square with the big "1" in it)
10. Next to "Multiple displays" select "Extend these displays"

Thanks! This fixed my problem exactly. Thanks so much. Do you know if you have to keep doing it before playing the game everytime?
I'm glad to say that the work-around, mentionned above, worked for me.
If Dreamfall hadn't been released on GoG I'd probably have not seen it anytime soon.

Thank you!
Gmr_Leon, I love you!!!!! I tried EVERYTHING, and this finally worked! Thanks so much!
that made a big difference. thanks for the answer, mate
Thanks, thats finally worked for me as well (intel hd3000).
I got it to work on mine as well. I'm using a laptop with NVIDIA Optimus on it, so there's an Intel graphics card and an NVIDIA one, and the steps to doing this are a little different, which is why I couldn't get it working right away. When you press Detect on the Screen Resolution screen in the above solution, there's actually 2 displays that will appear, and you'll want to do the steps with the one that says "Available display output on: Intel(R) HD Graphics Family", or something like that, as long as it's your Intel card and not the other one. After that, it should work fine, hope this helps someone.

It works for me too, thank you so much! I hope it is going to solve the same issue also in other games where I had it.
I am the OP of this thread and would like to thank both joshuahaderach and Zerotrig for their solutions.

Combining both suggestions, I was able to resolve this issue.

Thanks.

Now I need to try and get it working on my Acer Aspire One D270.

Thanks folks
