It's quite possible that Hinterland is biting their nose off to spite their face, but that's to be expected in this new PC world.
Sad, really.
That's a bummer... Was looking for this game and found this thread instead...

So long to Long Dark then. Not really my loss.
I'm feeling your bummer. :(
I'm afraid Hinterland has turned away from GOG for 'business reasons' whatever that might be.

Personally, I think Hinterland turned away from GoG for politically correct reasons, as I mentioned previously in this thread, which seems to be a bit contrary to business reasons.
Yes I think you're right. Hence the ' ' around business reasons. :/
Ah! Got'cha. :-)
Any short answer why The Long Dark was removed from gog and when it will be re-added?

Just a business decision, like dozens I make every day. We'll continue supporting the GOG build for our existing customers so nobody is negatively impacted by this removal.
My friend recommended this game to me yesterday. I was looking forward to purchasing it today on GOG. So I'm negatively impacted. I refuse to by on Steam. So you're negatively inpacted. Still just the two of us, so that's OK.

Not just the two of you. A friend of mine was also negatively impacted, only 2 days after they pulled it. I know there were quite a few others too.

It seems the reason it was pulled is Political Correctness, as the links in a previous post of mine would indicate.

When will it be added back? Most likely never.

Yeah I doubt it will ever be re-added a buy-able option. It makes me sad. There's quitte a few people who liked to buy it DRM free.

I'm also afraid that any future game published by Hinterland won't be sold on GOG which means mostly likely that I won't buy it (unless a different platform offers a DRM free version).
With the direction it seems Hinterland is taking TLD, I'm not sure I want any future versions, much less any future games they make.
I'll probably go back to V-1.56 and just leave it there.

Can't roll back to 1.56 via Galaxy, only 1.60+
Wish I could: Dont like the way HL are forcing us to use firearms to survive, and the bugs! .. sound bugs, carcasses bugs, reappearing bugs like not being able to place the rifle on the rack, missing arrows etc etc!

That sucks!
I don't use Galaxy and I have all the install files since I bought the game back in June of 2017. 3 of those are alpha versions.

The downside to that is it takes up about 130 GB of hard drive real estate.
Holy crap, I just realised my The Long Dark downloads folder is over 100GB. :')
I wish I could share those files if it wasn't illegal. Being able to go back to such old version can be nice and nostalgic.

I personally don't think it would be illegal to share them with someone that legitimately owns the game, but then - I'm not a lawyer.
By doing so though, you're not depriving Hinterland of possible income. It would have to be uploaded to a site that allows being able to send a link to one person (or multiple legitimate owners) without the link being public.

After all, Hinterland did it themselves at Steam. Why should GoG [Galaxy] users be again denied another aspect of the game (referring to 4DON). Not to mention non-Steam users now being denied the ability to even buy the game on a platform they once could.
