No game-only version?

Or is that going to come later?

The artbook and OST (10 soundtracks not the whole trails from zero OST) are free only for a week kind of like an early purchase bonus..After that you won't be able to purchase them separately.

And no dub, either. Even if I chose tp leap this (I didn't), having to listen to the characters jabbering at each other (or screeching, in the case of the female characters) would have me begging for the joy of deafness.

You can turn off the voices. I know I will.
Well - English dub would add around €20 to €30 to the game (voice actors are expensive, and certainly if you need a lot of them). I think the game is at a acceptable price point now, and I personally would not like to pay an considerable amount of money more for this game just to get English voice acting. I think the publisher (and developer) also have realized that the sales would not be great after adding expensive voice acting to a game that's already years old.

I personally am used to Japanese voice acting, because I play, and have played, a lot of JRPG's and VN's. So I don't mind it that much (if at all). At the end it's just a question of taste if you turn voices off or not. I myself have added Japanese voice acting to the Trails in the Sky series also. I prefer that to that "beepbeepbeepbeepbeep" that's in the voiceless version.
My main reason for turning them off is simply because every other game in the series has either an English dub, or no voice acting at all. I'm just aiming for consistency across the series by selecting that option.

If the whole series consisted of Japanese dubs, I'd leave them on.

That's possible, but involves modding Trails in the Sky.

(That's just a link to the mod; for obvious reasons, it doesn't tell you where you can find the actual voice files.)

Oh, I still wouldn't go there, simply because the Cold Steel series has English dubbing available.

That doesn't make much sense. The entire series has Japanese voice acting. And there is actually more English voiced lines than Japanese in some of the Cold Steel games and it's good.
