I think someone mentioned that DotEmu sells the Windows version while GOG sells the DOS version. If that's true, maybe that's the reason why GOG only has the English language version.
Then again, DotEmu has very vague information on the languages, too. I tried one of their free games which was listed as supporting several languages - and it did, but only regarding subtitles. The voiceovers were all English language only. So you can't be 100% sure that they actually offer different voiceover versions just because you see several nations' flags on its sales' page. And since to my knowledge they don't have community forums over there, you can't even ask other customers about their experiences.
Btw, for anyone not familiar with the The Last Express yet (like myself): While watching a gameplay video on youtube, I noticed that the English version in a way is multi-language, too: People on the train frequently speak other languages and I read that languages known to the protagonist are subtitled while languages he's not familiar with aren't (in the video I heard the passengers speak French among each other and it was subtitled in English, while the protagonist himself spoke English). So it's a little more complicated than just pure English, pure French etc. or subtitles / no subtitles, and there are bound to be misconceptions about the game language without very precise information.
Like many others here (I assume), I'm still hesitant whether to buy the GOG or the DotEmu version because of the missing language support and the missing soundtrack in the GOG package. It would be nice to see someone with knowledge on the subject comment on the differences between the DOS and the Windows version as well as on the actual languages of the version from DotEmu.
And even better would be some official statement from GOG regarding the meaning of this sentence:
"Since lots of our users just couldn't wait until The Last Express appears in GOG's catalogue, we're releasing the game with some goodies today and we're going to add more cool extras very soon."
Is it realistic to expect the soundtrack being added? Other language versions? What are these cool extras and is the GOG team actually working on adding them? Does it pay off to wait or to trust GOG on their word that the GOG package of The Last Express will be enhanced in the future to rival that of DotEmu?
I'm sure I'm not the only one pondering over these questions ...
