I don't suppose we'll be getting any of the improvements from the Gold Edition now on Steam?

I'm curious about this as well.
Would certainly warrant a 3rd playthrough.
I'm also curious. That new UI and inventory look interesting as well as the in-game bonuses.
The way I see it, a Gold, Remix, Director's cut, HD, whatever, is a different product, result of work hours and resources and those who did so deserve to be paid. However the Über versions most of the time turn out to be still pretty much the same game and making gamers pay twice the same amount to play the same game twice is EA evil. An option to upgrade to the new "enhanced version" would be fair and very welcome and I would totally give money to that. I do think it is strange that the Gold edition did not come to Gog.
I'd like a Gold Edition as well. Hope it's implemented.
Would love to see this upgraded to the gold edition.
Would be nice to see the new edition on here as well!

I don't see it happening, because The Last Express Gold Edition is a separate product made by DotEmu. I assume that the company which made the new version will want all the money they can get by selling it. I also assume that GOG will keep selling the original version, just like they are selling the original version of Baldur's Gate instead of Enhanced Edition.

It would be nice to get the gold edition here, too.
I'm thinking more of cases like the Broken Sword remastered editions that were integrated in the package with the respective original Broken Sword titles.
And in the case of the gold edition, as far as I can tell, the improvements alone (based on the description on the Steam page) don't justify a separate release.

In the case of Broken Sword GOG started selling new versions, but included originals as a free bonus, because fans requested it.

The Last Express Gold Edition is a PC port of the version which was originally made to mobile phones and tablets, which explains it's separate release. And if you don't think that the Gold Edition is worth the few euros it costs then don't buy it, personally I think the extra stuff and new UI are nice, but you can live without that stuff if you have the original version.

I am not questioning why it is a separate release in general. I was saying that in gog.com it wouldn't make much sense to have it as a separate release, given that they already are selling the original version (which I have and played through multiple times). So, if gog.com gets the gold version, it would be nice to offer it as a bundle with the original (given that the publisher is in agreement). That's all.

You're right about the Broken Sword games. I remembered it the other way around for some reason.
As an update. DotEmu answered in Steam forums that they haven't decided yet if they will sell the Gold Edition in other places than Steam.

Damn, that's a shame, wish I'd bought it on Steam now.
Would be nice to see this if only for Mac OSX support!
