I just started a new game and it instantly took me to the game. I thought this was kind of odd, so I watched a playthrough on Youtube and there is supposed to be an intro. Is this how this version is supposed to be?

You're talking about the part where you see Cath in the station and then jumping onto the train, right? That part showed up for me, so it's probably your system. Try messing with the graphics setup app (you can find it in the game folder), maybe try changing it to Direct3D?
