Start this game, black screen. Another broken GOG game. It's a 50/50 shot at best I'm finding that these games they sell actually run. And their support is 100% useless; I have never received any useful information on a broken game by contacting them.
Have you tried playing it in windowed mode or changing the graphics settings? Changing it to Direct3D seems to fix some problems.
Are you certain that the issue isn't with your computer rather than with GOG games? I got this game working with both Win 7 x64 and XP computers without any problems. Without any further detail it's hard to say what's wrong, but you could try changing graphic settings like Gazoinks suggested and if that doesn't work you could try tweaking DOXBox settings, but those default settings should work with most computers.

The fix you need is in one of the other topics. It took me 2 minutes to get it working ;)

It is ridiculous that you pay money for a game that does not work and has known issues that the company that sold you the product refuses to fix. Customers are left to their own to find a solution through trial and error from other people that are also experiencing problems with the same product. I wonder if the "customer support" personnel would like to buy a car only to find out that it has known problems and doesn't run. The dealership refuses to fix the errors but your neighbor's cousin's garbage man's yoga instructor has an idea to try. It would be different if the games were free, but they are charging and should supply a working product.
2021 here and the situation has not improved; I think it's time to stop buying their games; I'm looking at around 10% of their games being broken and unplayable.
This is so weird - even if I have some problems with any GOG game, it's a matter of minutes to find proper solution.
Try some of those old titles in steam and then you will see real problems.
Spent 30 mins trying various fixes to no avail for yet another gog purchased game (Tomb Raider Legend). Except, this time I decided to try something new and buy the steam version to try. So I buy it and launch it, and what do you know, it runs first time...

Steam, as help, after suggesting a validation, refers you to the producer/developer, sometimes quite unaware that the company ceased to exist a few years ago,

However, the game which, for me, this caused problems , actually works on Windows 7 and lots of others from sites like Bigfish also work only on 7.

There are warnings about (on here ?) , saying that unfortunately updates to Windows 10 make games unplayable on 10 (including some which previously worked on your computer), so it is Microsoft's fault. It was the latter which made games on disk unplayable on 10.

Another problem is that some developers add content (to stop copying ?) that security software thinks is malware, but the easy fix is to make the security site release the quarantined suspect.

2023 and the situation has not improved; I'm now simply refunding their games the instant they don't work; I'm not messing around anymore; their lack of QC for a platform is ridiculous.

There are 0old titles on steam that have never worked for me; I've clocked 3 from GoG thatI refunded in a 6 month span. And even tried on multiple systems.
Regarding older games, I do wonder why they sell a broken game that requires me to edit an .ini file or download an unofficial patch just to get it working. QOL updates like Widescreen patches are understandable, but the base game should work upon purchase, otherwise might aswell pirate the darn thing.

Another annoyance is the music soundtracks not existing because the game "used to" require the CD (.iso) to play the audio. Some soundtracks work (Baldurs Gate 2, Gangsters: Organised Crime) while others do not (Civilization: Call To Power, Big Red Racing).

Venting finished, sorry about that but I feel better for having written it.
