Are there any plans to bring the Linux version to GOG ?
I would like the Linux version as well. Thanks.
I would also like a Linux version.

Has anyone had success getting the Windows version to run on Linux? I believe it is an electron app, which should be reasonably straight forward to get running. I made some attempts at getting it to run under Wine or by trying to directly launch the electron app, but nothing worked straightforwardly. If someone could post a guide, that would be extremely helpful!

I'm not sure if you know but we're not asking for "a" Linux vesion but "the" Linux version. There is a native Linux version for this game on Steam. If they would simply bring it over to GOG then we wouldn't have to fiddle with the Windows version or use Steam.
I emailed the developer about this and sadly they have no plans to release the Linux version onto GOG.

why is that?? this game is on sale here but I'm not buying it.
I'll buy it on steam instead.

I seem to have deleted the email but it was a pretty vague message about not being able to support it outside of Steam as they're only sure it would run on Ubuntu. It didn't make much sense because plenty of Linux games on GOG only officially support Ubuntu.

I received this response:

Unfortunately we have no plans to release the Linux version of Dekker on GOG at the moment. I’d actually only recommend purchasing the Steam version if you’re running our recommended version of Ubuntu or a near identical variant as we can’t guarantee it will work.
That's sad.
It's a wrong devs' decision and I think it's also wrong GOG's approach – GOG should make some pressure to make the existing Linux port available for their customers...
Just in case anyone is wondering: the game works well under Wine (report). For me it was required to enable ""Emulate Virtual Desktop" option and it's the only tweak needed for flawless gameplay.
The game does indeed work well in just about any version of Wine, but Emulate Virtual Desktop is hit and miss.

Instead, disabling hardware acceleration in the game's hidden Electron settings works great, with or without Virtual desktop, Fullscreen or windowed mode.

To do so, edit the following file:

drive_c/GOG Games/The Infectious Madness of Doctor Dekker/resources/app/init.json

Change "hardwareAcceleration":true to "hardwareAcceleration":false
