It says you can use a gamepad but it won't work with any of my pads. Is there something special you have to do with dosbox?

I just installed the game and was surprised it worked with my old Xbox360 pad out of the box. I use the cable controller. I haven't figured out the fighting controls yet but the menu and movement works fine with the pad.
