Directed here by UniversalWolf - Thanks! And thanks for answering my questions in my topic.

I've just finished my firsst game (much to my annoyance) and was left with a couple of questions:

1. What are the different campaign types (mission, dynasty etc)?

2. is there one that will let you play endlessly?

3. I held office as Guild Master at some point and one of the powers was to investigate businesses, something about an admin mite and the ability to order inspectors (thats not it exactly but close enough). What is the middle one and how do I do the first and third? I know there are contextual green icons that appear but the business investigation/inspection never did and the inspectors were non-existent (or they are named something else).

A damned fun game overall despite several weaknesses. I'm going to patch it to 4.17b, add the legacy mod and hotfix and dive into it again. ANother question comes to mind:

4. Do we know when patch 4.2 is expected?

No problem! It's a puzzle to figure out how to play it since there's no tutorial. Fun though.

A good question. I'm not really sure myself. I haven't been playing this game all that much longer than you have, you see.

Another good question. I've managed to become mayor, but never guildmaster. Guildmaster is next on my list of things to attempt though, so next time I play I'll try and figure it out. Maybe you have to send your own employees out as inspectors?

I don't know when it's expected, but from what I read it is expected at some point. I believe the legacy mod is also close to a major update. That's one of the reasons I haven't been playing much since I last posted in this thread. When the new version comes out I'll probably jump back in.
Well I've figured out that Dynasty is the free mode. It doesn't end until the last of your line is dead.

I figured out the business inspectors problem; there are two of them and you can controller them to a degree.

Question: When your in the production menu for a shop, are the guards/escorts you hire for your carts a one time thing or permanent? Only asking because I'm using the people you can hire for your home as escorts for my wagons and I'd rather free time up for patrolling.
If you've gained an office and want to know what you can control then often the easiest way to find the new underlings it to click on the building icon on the building list on the right hand side. It'll show the employees of that building and then you can find out the details on them.

If you command the city guard then the town hall will have them employed and there will be typically an awful lot of them. If you command the informers then there's only usually a couple of them, again easy to find via the town hall icon/employee display next to it. That saves you hunting from them or wondering what you have actually gained in your seat. Likewise with other office seats.

The escorts for carts changed from the first game to the latest. Originally it was a one time deal, which meant it was really steep cost that you'd almost never pay unless carrying highest value goods out of town to another market. In the latest releases it was changed to a permanent guard attachment, which makes it far more useful and is more sensible. It also helps avoid the robbers/thieves from overwhelming everything and choking every town so easily as the guards are more common and economic.

For those missing the tutorial, etc., I believe it is on the list of things that will be brought back into Guild 2: Renaissance (lifted from the previous games, I think), along with the new patches that are being worked on (as well as the bug fixing and removal of the buggiest maps and some added content). It'd be worth having a look over at the Runeforge forum. The latest beta patch is 4.17b as of writing with more in the pipeline soon. Also worth getting that together with the commonly used modpack.

Business inspectors are public employees, like the informers or guards are, AFAIK. Upside of this is that you don't pay them and it keeps your own staff free to work. You can use them to hassle your rivals at the public's expense.

Good info I didn't know. Thanks!

There certainly are a lot of little intricacies to this game.

I agree, the Runeforge forums are an excellent source of useful information.

There really is a lot to the game. The mods and patching has only been adding more over time too. If you can worm your family to the top positions (depending on the size of the town/city) then you can have your main characters controlling the guard, informers and immunity to use them as you will all at the same time. Commence the mass corruption and the purges of rival families that'd make any renaissance-era court or republic look tame by comparison. ;)

Another bonus to the public employees is that they will be replaced with new hires if you get them killed, so go wild with them. If you control informers and the guard you can stalk and arrest anyone in honest trades and have them destroyed in court and anyone in the rogue professions will end up being likely outlawed while suffering under waves of attacks from your city guards. Works VERY well for someone in or planning on moving into the rogue professsion as you can smash their rogue possessions and then claim them for yourself. Controlling the guard and justice system or gaining immunity from the law is No. 1 priority for me when playing as a rogue.

The first game had several branches of offices and extra duties, etc. You could play as an "honest" rogue profession via town guard roles, etc. Countering the crime instead of adding to it. Hope to see these missing features return in Guild 3. Looking foward to that one. It won't get as much hype as the big AAA titles out there but the Guild series really has tried to deliver something unique. With the love and attention being brought back to Guild 2 it certainly bodes well for the future.
