The Falconeer Patch 1

Hello Falconeers!

The first patch for The Falconeer is now available to download.

Based on the feedback given in the first 48 hours there's been some changes to how mouse performance works in game, some splinter economy balancing, and general bug fixes to ensure a much smoother trip through The Great Ursee!

Patch notes are as follows :

Control Updates

- Controller changes can now be cancelled by exiting through esc or back button
- Mouse sensitivity slider in settings
- Mouse smoothing added

Economy changes

- Cash from falcons is returned on chapter change
- 50% of cash from mutagens is returned on chapter change

Bug Fixes

- C4M4 and C4M8 now respawn enemy ships if you retry the mission after having destroyed one or both ships
- Worldmap shows the correct 12 fortresses
- Mission delivery items such as the key or the packages, when they are thrown somewhere where they can end up beneath the world such as the maw, they respawn at a last known good location.

UI Updates

- Skippers reward text is now at the bottom and doesn't overlap with mission debrief
- Bird portrait now doesn't clip back and forth between mutated and not in bird seller screen
- The word keyboard should no longer appear ahead of a key binding, so it now says press R to land. Fix for localised text

Gameplay changes

- Maw stealth space is a bit roomier
- Game saves always on landing, (not just on finishing a mission), so discovery progress is kept
- Badge of seeker added to Oberons Reach store

The Falconeer has received a brand new patch!

Featuring a couple of localisation improvements, bug fixes and more - the full list can be found below :

Language Updates :

- Korean had the wrong spacing rules applied. Spaces are now correct in Korean
- Number of improvements on the Russian localisation

Bug Fixes :

- Clicking leave with mouse would cancel your mission, fixed
- Sometimes switching to the map would fail, and you'd be left with a town description in view
- If you got killed wile the camera was zooming on a cap ship or location, you'd enter a zombie mode with detached camera, you now die properly.
- Player when on fire can again dive in water to douse flames
- Delivery items could suddenly drop after launch.
- Delivery items could suddenly shatter when trying to pick up.
- Mouse would register wrong clicks in the pause menu.

Gameplay changes :

- Splash damage is now zero on the player from his own mines, in easy and normal
- Your wingman also won't die in hardcore mode.
- Delivery items now cannot shatter on ships and enemies (prevention from random despawning in missions)
- Photomode on mouse should now be smooth
- In the maw, stealth would sometimes fail to quickly, 5 second buffer added
- Fly ahead, is now also working when homebound, so a fly home will appear once the mission is done.
- Fly ahead is available in side missions
- In some cargo retrieval or salvage missions, the item would be invisible and become impossible to grab, now fixed
- Impact damage at high speeds is reduced, to prevent to many insta-kills on hitting airships.
- Falcon cawing reduced in jetstreams
- 120HZ V-sync improved on Xbox Series S/X (xbox patch will arrive later due to testing)

THE KRAKEN HAS BEEN UNLEASHED!

Attention Falconeers!

The brand new Kraken DLC update is now available to download ABSOLUTELY FREE for all owners of The Falconeer!

The Wreck Divers of Batis are renowned for their prowess in recovering relics from the depths of the Ursee, something the Mancer order exploit handily.

But recent rumours of ancient monstrosities roaming the depths have led them to approach willing Falconeers to assist them in their tasks.

Meanwhile the cartographers guild in Cartohom are using freshblood Falconeers to explore the unknown and map out the Great Ursee.

Help escort wreck divers to their diving stations, and protect them from interlopers as they raise treasure from the watery depths, be that from pirates or much older DEADLIER entities – or help to discover all the secrets that the Great Ursee hides within.

There are ample new ways to make profit and splinters in this new update – but as always, it comes at a risk…

New wreck-diver company location : Batis
New cartographers guild location : Cartohom
Exploration missions : Given out at Cartohom, find and discover locations in the world for splinters.
Wreck diving missions : Given out at Batis, be the eyes in the sky for wreck diving operations. See the depths of the Great Ursee first hand as wreck-divers scour the floor for relics, with a chance to encounter something else entirely...
3 new tutorial missions at Dunkle, to introduce chants and mutagens as well as some basic mechanics like fishing and jet streams.

Wreck diving mission outcomes

Come up empty handed or encounter dangerous sea creatures like Sarks. (Roughly 25% chance)
Find sunken ships for a 300-1200 splinters reward. (Roughly 50% chance)
Uncover ancient relics, vehicles and temples for up a 1600 splinter reward. (roughly 25%)
Encounter the mighty Kraken! (Rare chance)
Encounter the deadly Mosaurs of the Ursee! (Rare chance)

Game Update Patch Notes

Gameplay

- Turning Speed of enemy birds reduced by 10-25% to provide smoother dogfights and decrease difficulty.
- Enemy AI adjusted to prefer smoother turns and tactical retreats to add more of a chase.
- Mission difficulty more accurately indicated
- Enemy warbirds can now roll to avoid incoming fire
- Locked targets now have off screen edge indicators

Effects

- Debris and anything falling into the Ursee had incorrect or none-existent FX – now has generous splashes.

UI

- Improved the store interactions, along with a confirm to purchase / sell mechanic.
- Settings sliders now respond to mouse properly and can be dragged
- GUI arrows in perch menu and chapter select blink
- GUI arrows in perch menu disappear when not needed
- The word chapter is removed from the chapter selection GUI

Audio

Magnetar rifle and lightning caster have impact sounds, adding weight to their firing.
There is plenty more Ursee to be discovered, so strap yourselves onto your Warbirds and get out there!

- enemies are prevented from spawning more than 450 meters away, to prevent them wandering off during misisons
- lip sync audiosource analysis fixed to channel 0,to prevent random out of range errors
- roaming surface ships are now initialized at a random origin correctly, (no more pirate ships crossing the maw)
- roaming surface ships now have proper collision avoidance between themselves (prevents ships clipping thru each other)
- Buying back your old bird (class default) showed the right amount, but was using the wrong value
- Gui Animations are now framerate independend
- some text could "fall" due to infinite linebreaks
- whirlwinds now always give 100% energy refills and boost a bit more
- bird gains a tiny bit of energy from straight flight
- exploding ammo won't explode or cause errors if you are fully out of ammo

- the fly ahead notification will always disappear after use
- the landing notification now has blinking text to alert the player better

Gameplay Changes

- The settings and control menus now respond to mouse better. You can click on left to go left or right to go right in a setting.
- Resolution switcher now goes up and down logically.

Gameplay

- Character portraits now have different idle animations which won't sync together.
- Characters within their portraits now have roughed up hairlines.
- Tree of Souls is now less cluttered and visually improved.
- Caves have been visually improved.

Bug Fixes

- Fixed an issue whereby some ships were intersecting rocks and ending up in strange places.
- Fixed a flicker which occurred when the compass is switched between exploration and combat mode.

The Falconeer Edge Of The World Patch Notes

Hello Falconeers!

Today is the launch of The Edge Of The World (as you may have heard!) Which is OBVIOUSLY worthy of LOTS of celebration!

As part of the expansion launch we have also got a HUGE amount of updates in our latest patch, all based off your feedback to Tomas since the launch of Atuns folly earlier this year.

Update 1.4.25.0 contains the following :

New Content Added

- Added Edge of the World DLC mission content
- Added Mawspring Neverin and The Benthic locations for the DLC
(Available even without DLC)
- Added new DLC classes, Arbiter and Corsair
- Overhauled prologue
- New voice acting for ALL the content added in the last 8 months.
- Map expanded
- Added shocklance weapon

Bug Fixes

- Missiles will target proper center of target
- Resolution switching will select a lower resolution when using gamepad left (instead of always going higher)
- Mouse resets upon take off
- Fixed magnetar impact not showing (again)
- AI no longer targets submerged debris
- 15th temple issue solved, the temple of assula is no longer counted.
- Travel ahead could remain visible in the wreck dive cutscene
- Some wreck diving cutscene creature animations were broken
- Camera unlinking and bird going wobbly after death should now be prevented
- Prevented ships from respawning with a rotation offset caused by sinking

Visual Changes

- Emotion animations integrated for NPC portraits
- Spotlights added to imperial and mancer turrets at nighttime or during storms.
- Added red lights to bow of Mancer Questor
- Added red lights to weaver head
- Cinematic zoom now always zooms at center of target

Gameplay Changes

- Upon starting a new chapter , if your base ammo is destroyed you get 3 new pots
- Diving mechanic now redesigned, hold brake button while heading down and you can keep diving for as long as you want/possible.
- Diving manoeuvre now gains you energy.
- Bloodlust, rage and resistance chants now have a visual and audio effect ingame when they are consumed.
- The 6 splinters in the seachantress sequence now accurately represent your campaign progression
- Using your movement axis to skip dialogue sequences has been replaced with the hold for 1 second functionality, inline with other sequences
- Shortened the distance map fast travel is allowed
- Going pirate now instantly updates the map to represent the new status
- Flying home during a mission, takes you to the mission starting point instead of home.
- Rebalanced a few key turrets to prevent ship insta kills of all turrets.
- Limited the raw quantity of turrets a missile can deal splash damage to
- Exploration missions no longer show the target to discover on map or compass
- Shrine and settlement defense and assault missions, now target a more diverse selection of locations
- Level cap has been increased , unlockable thru the items of assula (3 out of 4 are locked to the DLC)
- Bird stat levelling has been rebalanced, and max value set to six instead of 5
