Thanks for the recommendations.
Do a search for The Dark Heart of Uukrul Rakoth on youtube. I think you will be surprised. ;)
I didn't play the game when it was originally released as I had an Atari ST and the game was not released on it.
But with other games of the time, especially games that required some more thinking than reaction times, I would play something like this.

My preferred soundtrack for the game are various fantasy games such as Dragonsphere, Etrian Mystery Dungeon and the NES version of Ultima III< among others.

While the lack of in-game sounds and music is off-putting at first, you can improvise with what you got.
Finally! This is a game that I've been waiting for since the creation of GOG (Ultimas is another).

Back then during DOS days, due to the nature of no sound and music at all , I've listen to 80s rock during CGA year via tape, and oldies CD-ROM during the 486 days.

Oh yeah - this is going to be fun.
Maybe you should also take a look into the Dungeon Synth Genre.
Here are a few Examples:

I always liked to mix and match. Back in the 90s I was playing Eye of the Beholder 2 or Lands of Lore while listening to Massive Attack's "Blue Lines", to the soundtrack of "Until the end of the world" or to Björk.

I was planning to play this one with ambient or dub ambient from the 00s, like albums from Force Tracks/Mille Plateaux and so on, starting with the classics from Vladislav Delay.
