I know that there was a bug in this game that prevented you from achieving one of the achievements (Penny Pincher, to be specific), and this bug has been fixed on Steam already.
Has this bug also been fixed in the latest GOG.com version yet? Anyone knows?

I believe I'm using the latest GOG version (the installer I used is version 2.0.0.4, which matches the installer that currently shows up on my GOG shelf), and I did not get the Penny Pincher achievement - nor, for that matter, the Thruster achievement, even though I'm pretty sure I should have qualified for it. The version number listed on the game's main menu is 1.0, and apparently this issue was fixed in version 1.1.

It seems that only Steam got the fix for the Penny Pincher bug. The version on Steam should be 1.1.26, and that has the bug fixed.
However, I think this bug was initially fixed "silently", as the author of this video achievements guide claimed that the bug was fixed without him noticing any download from Steam, and the version number remained 1.0 (and if you download and watch the video, you can see very clearly at 01:14 that the in-game version number still appears as 1.0).

Also, you must restart a new game to unlock this achievement - loading a saved game that was saved in the older version won't work. So, perhaps the GOG version also has been "silently" patched? It might be worth it to try to redownload and reinstall then start the game from scratch and reach this achievement (it's very close to the beginning) to verify, maybe it's fixed.

By the way, the new English retail rerelease by Merge Games is also version 1.0, and also has this bug.

Regarding the Thruster achievement - there's no bug in any version that prevents its unlocking, perhaps you just did something wrong. See this guide for help.

Is there a way to actually display your achievements in Steam (any anywhere else) with the GOG version?

So I may be a little obsessed with getting all the achievements in the games I play, but not being able to get them all because the update that is available on Steam isn't available elsewhere sucks!

Does anyone know if the GOG version was "silently patched"? I don't really want to redownload a 5 gig file to find out that it's exactly the same as the one I already have.

Keelhaul - You can only get Steam achievements to work on a game that was bought at Steam.

I've just finished the game, but I wasn't trying to get any achievements. However here's the relevant details just for anyone interested:

Version downloaded: 2.0.0.4

Version showing in game menu: 1.0

I got the thruster achievement, but didn't get penny-pincher (don't know whether I should have got it or not)
