Hello
I very much enjoyed my first hours with Archolos, but now something strange happened. I tried to start the game not by using the shortcut but the "Gothic II.exe" in the "system" folder. After that I started the game and all my savegames were deleted. The folder "saves_thechroniclesofmyrtana" is empty... when I start GOG Galaxy and run the game from there, the savegames are back in the game (but still not in the game's folder)...

I don't like to have to run Galaxy to start the game so I would like to ask if anybody knows how to get my savegames back in the folder.

Thank you!

(darn typo in the title...)

EDIT: My savegames are gone for good. Now I have to start from the beginning again... I advise everybody playing this game to avoid clicking on the GothicII.exe in the system folder. I have no other explanation as for the reason for my savegames being deleted.

Have been running Archolos exclusively from the Gothic2.exe (as I'm not using Galaxy) for two days now and the savegames are still all there and where they're supposed to be.

Could be that the advice to not run Archolos from the Gothic2.exe needs to be heeded by Galaxy users only, if you're not using Galaxy you should be fine.

Did you use the exe in the system folder or the shortcut in the main folder? In my case I started the exe, Galaxy closed. I noticed the time of modification of the savegames folder. It showed the time when I clicked the exe... so I do assume that was the reason but I can't tell for sure.
Anyway, I'm back at where I was again and now I'll make backups of the savegames. Can't be too cautious with such things.

The one in the system folder, yes.
As far as I can tell the "Launch" shortcut in the main folder is only necessary for the custom intro sequence to be played back once you select "New Game", starting a new game when running from the Gothic2.exe skips the intro sequence and goes straight into gameplay. Which is no big deal, as you can (re-)watch the intro from the main menu anyway and any time you want.
Reinstal it to X:\Games\*game-name*\ (also with no spaces (use[-]) spec symbols - only latin letters). Set game exe to "run by admin" in proeprties.

If you use Galaxy (still game should be on that path strickly) set "admin run" to galaxy exe.
