moonage: I cannot play action/FPS horror games because I can't deal when monsters leap out at me. This game has been compared to Silent Hill which I find far too scary. Any parts where I'm going to have to shoot monsters quickly? Or is this more of a "moody" horror like The Path?
There's one instance where you need to shoot someone, but it's not timed, as far as I can tell. In fact, you can take your sweet time.
But the most important part: The Cat Lady is an Adventure Game. Similar to Point 'n Click, though Susan can only move to the left and right. So, if you played any Adventure Games you have a basic idea on this game.
There are no... well... there are weapons. How do I put it?
You don't fight enemies, like you do in Silent Hill. All you do is solving puzzles and using items at the right moment. Like weapons. In fact, there's never any real fighting in this game, like in FPS.
Also, people do die and there are a few jump scares. The creepiest moment is probably when Susan is locked in her neighbours flat.
But there are more creepy things. People do die over the course of the game and ther eis violence.
But in any case: In the rare occasions a monster does jump out at you and you're so terrified that you run out the room, don't worry. Susan (the main character) will probably still be alive and the scene wont have changed.
Also, considering what the first parasite does and how Susan leaves the Queen's world, I'd say you will keep your husband up at night. Though it is not for creaking floors.
Now, I suggest you go visit youtube and watch the early game videos. Maybe until Susan wakes up in the hospital. Then you have a basic idea from where the Cat Lady gets the suspense and horror.
And yes, worse thing will happen than what happens after she pushes the button to activate the machine.
If you think you can make it, then enjoy the game. I know I love it.
