Make sure DirectX9 is correctly installed, by installing this:

Nope, same result. I'm using Windows 8.1 if that matters at all. However as I've said - Ben There Dan That, the Wadjet eye games etc all run without this issue even despite being low resolution themselves. So what gives? :(
