When I start the game it takes a bit before it actually starts (although I can see it already opened in the taskbar)
but when I delete steam_api.dll from the game folder it starts instantly (but with a warning that the dll is missing) proving that this pause is related to steam_api.dll

Would it be possible to release a version here on gog that doesn't rely on steam_api.dll ?
the game is after all drm free so this seems a bit unnecessary to have it in there.

Loving the game btw, I love how you managed to achieve the exact same graphical style as Maniac Mansion!

Thanks for playing The Castle AlexVamp! Copying the style of Maniac Mansion is easy, you just have to take the same color palette and design similar characters.

About what you tell me about the steam_api.dll file, it turns out that it is an important file for the integration of Steam achievements into the GOG platform. It's just for this. Although I only appreciate a second of delay while the game opens.
Yeah, it takes like 10 seconds here before The Castle actually shows up.
I mean, Its not that big a deal I guess. but it would have been nice if they hadn't added that error message
when you delete the steam api dll, not everybody cares about achievements.

but yeah, its not that big of a deal.
