This is probably an issue similar to the "Chains of Satinav". The original game is German, but some greedy publisher wants to earn more money on Germans by (DRM-infested ?) sales through other channels.

I would also like to see a DRM-Free / downloadable German GOG version.

And there it is.... together with the sequel. I just downloaded the update/patch (and spent the money on the sequel). Thanks a lot gog !

Probably. As far as I remember when I was looking into the issue before the language pack arrived.... why am I witing English? Ah.. so GOG might read and comment *lol*

Ok, so.. I found a folder somewhere at the games path called "en" and a config file stating "language=en" or something similar. My guess would be to somehow extract the archive (guess it's nothing more within the patcher) into "de" folder and switch to german in the config file.

Granted, I don't know how to extract those GOG .bin archives - but you might have some Windows machine where you could install it and transfer the files to your Mac?

@vertex, I tried to unpack the language files inside my VM, but did not dig deep enough in the bout-filesystem to use them anyhow useful. but now my question seems to be perfectly answered.
