I asked for help for this several days ago on the official forums for the game but never got a response so I thought I'd try here. It's the GOG version, and I tried installing the fix the developers have for this apparently widespread (but frustratingly illusive) issue that happens in random locations for players, but haven't had any luck. Here's what's happening:

Shortly after Wilbur is launched in the rocket by his Granddad in the first chapter, the game crashes and throws up the exception error on trying to load the next scene...
"An exception has occurred!
ORGE EXCEPTION(3:RenderingAPIException): Failed to DrawPrimitive : Invalid call in D3D9RenderSystem::_render at ..\..\..\..\..\RenderSystem\Direct3D9\src\OgreD3D9RenderSystem.cpp(line 3116)"

I downloaded the fix and followed the installation instructions, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to have resolved anything. Any suggestions?

Hi,

Could you send our Support department an email with that exact error message and your DxDiag? Thanks in advance :D
I have received the same Ogre Exception message but cannot even get into the first Chapter to play the game at all. It stops at 98%. My computer meets all developer specifications but they apparently did not account for some hardware that might not be newer on the market. I am running Windows XP. Apparently, I am out of luck and possibly may have wasted my good money!!!! I am upset at the developer for marketing the game with specifications that could be less than what is required.
If found the following fix on the steam forums, which worked for me:

Go to your "My Docs" folder and delete the folder "Book of Unwritten Tales".
