I've attached the v-belt between the flywheel and steam generator but the game is refusing to recognise it being there. Wilbur keeps telling me that he still needs to attach it. Anybody have any ideas?

I'm having exactly the same problem. I've done all the steps to power the machine, but the game refuses to acknowledge that it's finished, even though I can see the belt attached to the wheel.

I had the same problem, but it's working now! :-)
This was a problem with the unpatched game version which is delivered from GOG!
You need to start a manual upgrade from the original vendor to fix this bug:
- start your file explorer
- change into the Launcher-directory; e.g.: 'The Book of Unwritten Tales 2\launcher\1.0.0'
- start 'Launcher.exe' (don't block it with any firewall ;-)
..now it should check for updates automatically and should say that there is one to apply!
Choose install update and wait until download, patching and finally applying has been finished!
(this could take some minutes)

Now start the game and select the waterwheel and/or the power-cables (sorry, don't know the exact names in the english version of the game,. because 'I'm gaming the german one). Now Wilbur should say that the mashine is finished and he will suggest to speak to Gulliver for the good news!

I hope this solution would work for the english game version also! :-)

I've got the exact same bug, the launcher doesn't appear to patch it in the English (Mac) version of the game. Anywhere I could download the patch manually, or failing that, an English language save file that takes place some time soon after the constructor machine has been fixed?

Same problem. Mac version, stuck in the v-belt glitch and the autoupdater fails every time.

Where the fuck do we get a manual update or something?
