(ø,ø): They didn't bother to keep the old offline installer when Risen got upgraded earlier this year either. Which is a shame since the new version has higher system requirements than the old one.
So, they basically took a game people have paid for and own, and quite possibly made it unplayable for some of those people. Several people have contacted them about this, but the old offline installer is still missing.

It's great when a developer or publisher updates an old game for modern systems after many years, and even gives it to you for free, but they shouldn't take away the actual game people bought either.
I agree mate! What you said is the purest truth, and a real torment for owners of older hardware/software. =/

If you bought it, then download it and back it up - it's actually your responsibility as a digital consumer. You can't rely on anyone other than yourself. I have every game I have bought on GOG since 2009 downloaded and backed up along with all the updates. Also - Window 7 is way past EOL - use at your own risk.

That's not the point, my son, what we're complaining about is that on the store page it says Windows 7, and developer himself said that there is support for Windows 7, when in fact there isn't, so he lied, simple as that, and GOG is supporting this lie as it maintains the warning that the game works on Windows 7, 8, 10 e 11. It has nothing to do with "backup", "responsibility" and blablabla, you misunderstood the essence of the conversation!

First I am not your son and second I was referring to the old installer... If you want I will sell you my original discs and you can install on 7 all you want.

Buy your records?! WTF! I can get the GOG "classic" version by other means... It's 2023, my grandchild, not the middle of the first decade of the 2000s! XD

I just wanted to confirm the 'can't start because XINPUT1_4.dll' error after (successful) installation when trying to launch the game using windows 7 64bit... I have opened a problem ticket and let's see how gog.com will respond to it..

This is not the only error, other dll errors occur, and all these "missing dlls" errors are related to the game version being compatible with Windows 10, but not with Windows 7, anyway, if it helps, read my posts on this thread: https://www.gog.com/forum/the_bards_tale_series/the_bards_tale_remastered_and_resnarkled/page3

I think that after reading my posts and the developer's posts, you will understand the drama behind this "Remastered and Resnarkled" release and will stop waiting for help from GOG, as not even the developer cared with everything that had been reported to him. Anyway, it's just a tip. ;)

Several RPGs are on sale, it's the promotion of RPGs, but this game is worthless, if they put it out for free I wouldn't pick it up! I have it on Steam and I regret buying it, unfortunately the refund is gone and now I'm with a miserable pile of files that are worthless!
