Is it intended for conjurors to be able to wear mithril scale? :)
For whatever it's worth, in (at least some?) classic versions of Bard's Tale 1 Conjurers, Magicians, and Sorcerers can wear mithril scale. Wizards, for whatever reason, can't.

(Incidentally, there's one item in BT1 that is *only* usable by Conjurers, Magicians, and Sorcerers; the Staff of Lor. It's not actually that important, though it has its uses in some classic versions of 2 and especially 3, and isn't as restricted in either game.)

Edit: I believe spellcasters can only equip mithril scale in BT1, not BT2 or BT3 (not counting the special Geomancer class).

Interesting, thanks for the response. I thought it was a bug.

Maybe it was a bug in the original games that was carried forward to the remaster?

In any case, it doesn't matter *that* much.
Currently a side effect of the data tables from the originals...

Some of this will be addressed when we bring BT2 online, since their data tables have fixed a few of these issues.

Essentially yes, it is a bug in the original game. There are a variety of errors in the item tables.

Amusingly in the original in most ports, you could equip the mithril scale as as a class that could use it, and then keep it equipped as a class that could not use it.

The armor class of spellcasters rarely comes up though.

Well, maybe if you're solo leveling one. (It might be a good strategy to use the 69 Wights in the Catacombs to solo level a Wizard, since Wizards level slowly and can use REDE to kill the Wights easily.)

Also, with the Death Dagger (which supposedly drops in the remaster with the newest patch) or Spectre Snare, a spellcaster can actually fight pretty well in the front rank. In BT3, a decently leveled Geomancer with a Stoneblade can also fight well in the front, and can also get good AC (due to being able to use both Warrior and Archmage equips).
