Somebody posted on the Inxile forums that the latest patch is not retroactive so that means that we have to start a new game.

How will we know if patches are retroactive or not ?

The patch is retroactive. Not sure why someone on the official forums is saying otherwise. Just a problem on his end really. My old saves loaded up just fine.

All patches are retroactive unless the developers specifially tell you that it is not retroactive, and really the only time they are not retroactive is when they do things like Enhanced Editions similar to Divinity Original Sin.

You (and the folks on the inXile forum) mean backward compatible, I guess. Yes, it is.

Retroactive would mean that problems due to previous errors are corrected. Such as the broken storyline if you talked to the selkie too early. Don't know if that is the case.
Just confirming - your save files should continue to work with any new patches.

In situations where a user encounters a specific bug or problem, if it's a gameplay scripting issue, it may be necessary in those cases to reload an earlier save file and re-trigger the event.
